DBA program content & outcome
A practical and intellectual challenge

While equivalent to a conventional PhD, a DBA is not purely academic. You will undertake doctoral-level research to become an expert in your chosen business field, and ultimately publish a thesis. You’ll also gain knowledge and skills that will help you improve business practices and find creative solutions for your company.

The program has two phases:

Phase 1 : Theory and research techniques (18-24 months)

You will complete six compulsory research training workshops held at Webster University Geneva and Grenoble Ecole de Management. These workshops cover research design, data collection methods, and data analysis techniques for conducting, writing up, and publishing research to doctoral standards.

Under the direction of your supervisor(s), you will prepare a detailed research proposal that includes a literature review and a conceptual framework for your thesis. You’ll also conduct a pilot study before embarking on the main research for the DBA thesis.

Phase 2: DBA research and thesis (24-36 months)

Participants who successfully complete Phase 1 are promoted to candidacy status and continue with their research, finally producing a thesis. Short workshops, conferences, and doctoral symposia are organized where you can present your work and receive support from faculty and fellow DBA candidates.
